The Little Things Foundation was founded by young women, searching for a practical way to serve the most vulnerable parts of the DC and LA communities.

In major cities like Los Angeles, the need for housing is overwhelming. It’s difficult to imagine exactly what can truly be done to solve such a massive problem.

The COVID 19 pandemic has acted like a magnifying glass - highlighting and enlarging pre-existing issues in housing, employment, medical infrastructure and more.

Back in May of this year, CNN predicted an increase in homelessness of 40-45%.

“(CNN)If the coronavirus pandemic continues to drive unemployment levels as high as predicted, homelessness will increase 40% to 45% by the end of the year, according to an analysis by a Columbia University economics professor.

That would mean 250,000 more people in the US would experience homelessness compared with last year, bringing the total number of those experiencing homelessness to above 800,000.”

When walking by the man/woman sleeping on the DC metro floor or walking barefoot through the streets of LA, it’s not the “problem” that you see, it’s the person. A person, like any other, who has fallen on hard times.

Many Americans are simply a paycheck away from financial struggle.

The Little Things Foundation welcomes people of all genders and backgrounds to join us in the compilation and distribution of care packages.
